Leo M. "Seechka" Kozlowski, 86, of Dickson City, died Saturday at the home of his daughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ceil M. Krakowski, on Sept. 6, 2006. They had been married 55 years.
Born in Dickson City, son of the late Michael and Catherine Malek Kozlowski, he was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, its Holy Name Society and a 50-year member of its choir. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School and a 1943 graduate of Dickson City High School. He also attended Penn State University
. Leo served with the Army
during World War II
and he was a member of VFW
Post 5937, American Legion Post 665 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11, all of Dickson City. He had been employed by Scranton Roofing and Siding, Brojack Lumber and Wegmans. He was instrumental in starting the Dickson City Little League, Polonia Park and the Dickson City Community Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine Guilford and husband, Glenn, Clarks Summit; two sons, Leo Jr. and fiancée, Erin Joyce, Dickson City; and James and wife, Barbara, Rochester, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Uriah, Gabrielle Walsh, Jason, Cory and Kathryn Kozlowski; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Lucy, Emma, Declan and Haylei; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ann, Brenda and Alice; and five brothers, Chester, George, Joseph, Eugene and Marion.
The funeral with military honors will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass at 9:30 in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Entombment, St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dickson City.
