Leona E. Langan, 95, a former South Scranton resident, died peacefully Thursday surrounded by her loving family at Dunmore Health Care Center. She was the widow of Joseph E. Langan, who died in 1984.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Carrie Winkler Schumacher. She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish and attended Scranton public schools. She was employed in the local garment industry until her retirement. She enjoyed dancing and bingo. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are a son, Thomas J. Langan and wife, Barbara, Archbald; a daughter, Carolyn Santarsiero, Moosic; grandchildren, Robert Santarsiero Sr. and wife, Lori; Diana Pierce and husband, Eric; Shane J. Langan, Esq., and fiancée, Ashley Madea; great-grandchildren, Sierra Santarsiero, R.J. Santarsiero Jr., Anna and Gina Pierce. Also surviving are granddaughter, Tiffany Bohn and husband, Tom; great-grandchildren, Alec, Aiden, Addison Bohn and Reggie Grayek; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Frantz; a grandson, Reggie Grayek; and her son-in-law, Robert F. Santarsiero.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 630 Genet St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor. Interment, St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
