Leonard J. Rossi

Leonard J. Rossi, 72, Archbald, died Thursday morning at home following a brief illness. His wife of 53 years is Barbara DeMaio Rossi.

Born in Jessup, son of the late Leonard E. and Elda Castellani Rossi and stepson of the late Mary Dragon Rossi, he was a graduate of Jessup High School, class of 1958, and worked as a meat cutter for Giant Markets. He later owned and operated Rossi's Market in North Scranton for 20 years and up until recently managed the kitchen at Rossi's Ristorante in Archbald.

Leonard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who had a passion for cooking and was known for his homemade sausage, a talent handed down by his father. He liked spending time at the lake with his family, loved his dog Princess, and was affectionately known as "Pop" by his eight grandchildren. Leonard was also a great handyman who could fix just about everything.

Also surviving are his sons, Leonard W. Rossi and wife Barbara, Greenfield Twp.; Anthony V. Rossi and wife, Karen, Archbald; and Mark A. Rossi and wife Sandy, Wyoming, Del.; eight grandchildren: Leonard, Kyle, Nicholas, Ashley, Jacquelyn, Christina, Katelyn and Allison Rossi; two sisters, Elaine Sebastianelli and husband, Joe; and Deborah Rafter and husband, Paul, both of Jessup; an aunt, Rose Castellani, Jessup; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Willow Street, Peckville. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
