Linda Burak, 49, of Peckville, died peacefully Saturday morning at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, David Burak.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Theresa DiPasquale Gerek and the late Joseph Gerek. She graduated from Valley View High School and King's College. She worked as a project manager at Cinram in Olyphant. She was raised in Jessup, moved to Dickson City, and had spent the last 22 years residing in Peckville. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother and friend who enjoyed crafting, gardening, going to the casino with her mom, and spending time with her family, especially her children. She also loved vacationing with her family and entertaining at her home, especially during the holidays, when she would make cappelletti and ravioli with her Aunt Madge, her mother, Theresa, her sister, Debbie, and her daughter, Lindsay. Linda was an avid supporter of the Valley View football team. During her illness, she especially enjoyed Phillies baseball and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She will be dearly missed.
Also surviving are a son, Christian; and her three daughters, Lindsay, Santina and Gemma, all at home; two brothers, Joseph Gerek, Peckville; and Alan Gerek and wife, Desiree, Olyphant; a sister, Debbie Marinelli and husband, Mike, Scranton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Montdale.
