Lois C. Ferrell Bond, 74, died Saturday in the Hospice Center of Lancaster. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Bond, Shunk.
Born in Dushore in 1936, daughter of the late Mary Catherine Everling and Eugene Chuck Ferrell, Lois was a 1954 graduate of Loyalsock High School, Estella. She continued her education at the Jean Summers Business School in Elmira, N.Y., and later worked for the Visiting Nurses Association in Elmira. On April 8, 1961, Lois married Robert E. Bond of Ellenton at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Overton. Lois and Robert later raised their family in Clarks Summit. Lois was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Canton, and often attended St. Mary's Catholic Church of Lancaster. In recent days, she was very grateful for the prayer requests and support she received from the Altar and Rosary societies. Lois enjoyed her summers in Shunk, and winters with friends in Lake Wales, Fla. More recently, Lois and Robert resided near family in Lancaster, where, in recent days, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while being treated by the Lancaster Cancer Center under the tender care of Dr. Peter DeGreene. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She entered into the house of the Lord surrounded by her loving family.
Also surviving are a sister, Jean Ann Plotts, Lock Haven; three children, Robert Bond Jr. and wife, Julie, and their two daughters, Danielle and Catherine, Lebanon; Mary Lawhead and husband, Rip, and their three children, Mike, Megan and Madison, Lancaster; and Jennifer Winters and husband, Cliff, and their two children, Evan and Kendall, Lancaster.
The family will receive friends Friday, 10 to 11 a.m., at the Pepper Funeral Home, Springbrook Drive, Canton, with transferral prayers at 11 in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Canton, with the Rev. Michael McCormic serving as celebrant. Interment, Ellenton Cemetery.
