Lois J. Pfund, 72, of Honesdale, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, after a brief illness. She is survived by her wonderful husband, Roland Pfund. They were married for 47 years.
Born July 24, 1941, in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Alice Box Holbert. Lois graduated from Honesdale High School class of 1959 and served as class treasurer for the reunion committee since that time. She owned and operated Lois' Beauty Shop, which she opened in 1961. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale. Lois served on the Wayne County Board of Elections as Judge of Elections for more than 40 years. She loved politics and maintained keen interest in the local area.
She is also survived by two daughters, Laurie J. Ashby, M.D. and her husband, Hansel Ashby, M.D., Boise, Idaho; and Lisa J. Pfund and her husband, Jeffrey J. Wander, Mexico; three grandchildren, Graham Ashby, Washington, D.C.; Kyle Ashby, Boise, Idaho; and Colbey Pfund, Los Angeles.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Indian Orchard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois' memory the VNA Hospice at Geisinger CMC, 1800 Mulberry St., Scranton, PA 18510. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 N. Main St., Honesdale.
