Lois M. (Jerrell) Lilley, while at home surrounded by her loving family, entered the gates of heaven on her 91st birthday, January 21, 2014.
Lois was born in Belle Vernone, Pa. As a young girl she moved with her family to Millville, N.J., where she resided on Bridgeton Pike (Jerrell's store). She enjoyed being part of the Jerrell clan, which included many aunts, uncles and cousins. Lois graduated from Millville High School in the Class of 1940. During the early part of WWII she was a member of the USO at the Millville Airport, where she met the future love of her life, Army Pvt. Burton "Duke" Lilley, from Pennsylvania. They corresponded during Duke's assignment in Europe and after the war's end, he returned to Millville. They married in April, 1945 and spent 46 years together until his death in 1991.
During her life in Millville, Lois attended the Second Methodist Church and was a member of the Mae Westcott Sunday School Class. She worked at the Millville National Bank, Kimble Glass in Vineland and Rennoc Mfg. She retired from the Prudential Insurance Company in Millville.
In 1992 Lois moved to live with her daughter Lorraine, in NEPA, where she enjoyed many activities, including making "Ugly Quilts" at the Lake Winola UMC while attending Pleasant View Baptist Church in Falls, Pa.
Lois is survived by her brother, Edward L. Jerrell (Lorna) in California; daughters, Lorraine M. Ross, with whom she resided in Dunmore, Pa.; Margaret L. Smith (John) in Woodbridge, Va.; and eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "GG". She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and James K. Ross (Diane), who remained her loving son-in-law.
She was predeceased by her husband, Burton A. (Duke) Lilley; her parents, Margaret B. (Ensell) Jerrell and Louis J. Jerrell; her son, Harry B. Lilley (Mariann); and her infant siblings, Margaret and Louis.
Lois loved spending time with her family and friends. She was always eager to help anyone who needed her and she enjoyed car trips, no matter how short or how long. She never met a cat or dog that she didn't love.
