Louise J. DeLeo, 87, Lake Winola, passed away peacefully on March 6 at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Anthony P. DeLeo.
She was born on April 2, 1926, in Scranton, daughter of the late Anthony and Bridgetta Apostalico Berardelli.
Louise graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1944. She was a housewife until the age of 51, and then entered into Penn State University
, Dunmore, along with her son and daughter-in-law, to receive her associate degree in business administration in 1980. She proudly worked until the age of 85 at Green Thumb and Area Agency on Aging as a job placement specialist.
Mrs. DeLeo was a founding member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lake Winola.
Louise mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her six grandsons, two granddaughters and her great-granddaughter. She loved to cook, shop, travel, play cards, attend Broadway shows and be surrounded by friends and family. She was a very loving and caring person, and will be deeply missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Grace Fresco.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony, Tunkhannock; Nicholas and wife, Donna, Rochester, N.Y.; Louis and wife, Cindy, Lake Winola; and Robert and wife, Kelly, Pittston; son-in-law, James Fresco, Waverly; grandchildren, Barbara, Tony, Corey, Jimmy, Johnny, Danny, David and Erin; and great-granddaughter, Ava.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 11, from St. Mary of the Lake Church at 10 a.m. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be at Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
Friends and family may call at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Inc., 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock, on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
