Margaret A. Laybourn, 84, of Scranton, died Friday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center. She is survived by her husband, Paul T. Laybourn, with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 10 of last year.
Born in Scranton on June 1, 1929, daughter of the late John and Mary Peason Sedlock, she attended Scranton public schools. Margie worked for the American Can Co. for many years and settled in the Bellevue section of the city, where she was an active member of Holy Cross Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, the Italian American Club, the Big Band Society, the VFW
in Dupont, and anywhere she and Paul could dance together to the music of the Big Band Era.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Allied Skilled Nursing for their compassionate care for Margie during her time there.
Also surviving are two daughters, Paula Colangelo and husband, Dan, Scranton, and their children, Daniel Colangelo and fiancée, Marie Biel, and Meghan Colangelo and fiancé, Kenneth Hazelton; Mary Poehlman and husband, Tom, Scranton, and their children, Ryan and wife, Kelly, Eric and fiancée, Laura Blackledge, Maura and fiancé, Jay Deliz, and Caitlin; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Sedlock; three sisters, Helen Woodyatt, Anna Mae McTiernan and Therese Boyd.
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday from the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 715 Linden St., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram St., Scranton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
