Margaret E. Griffiths, Clarks Summit, died Saturday morning at the Green Ridge Care Center after an illness. Her husband, George, preceded her in death in 1944.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Fred and Lena Buff Buck, she was a lifelong resident of the area and attended West Scranton High School. Before retirement, she was a saleswoman in the Scranton Dry Goods and Matthews Paint stores. Margaret was proud of and enjoyed her time being a baby and house sitter/keeper (aka nanny) for many families in the area over the years. She was a member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Green Ridge Care Center, Dr. Joe Leo of the Wright Center in Clarks Summit and Laurie Battle, R.N., for the care Margaret received.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Young; six grandchildren, Mark and wife, Lynn Young, Chinchilla; Dr. Douglas and wife, Laura Young, Stroudsburg; Barbara Young Jones, Binghamton, N.Y.; Delbert and wife, Sue Daubert, Harleysville; Kenneth and wife, Theresa Daubert, Fairless Hills; and Sarah Daubert, Yardley; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marian Griffiths and Clara Daubert; two sisters, Clara Avery and Frances Graves; and four brothers, Spencer, Wesley, Herman and John Buck.
The funeral will be Thursday 11 a.m. in the Bomberger-Lesko Funeral Home Inc., 1660 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Kenneth H. Forbes, Presbyterian Church of Dunmore, officiating.
Friends may call Thursday, 10 until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or the donor's favorite charity.
