Margaret Mullen McDonnell, 85, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Friday at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John McDonnell.
Born April 24, 1929, daughter of the late Margaret and William J. Mullen Sr., Margaret was a graduate of St. Ann's High School before earning her degree from Lackawanna Business School. Before her retirement, she worked at the Scranton State Office Building. She was an active volunteer for St. Joseph's Center in Scranton, and also a longtime member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She will be dearly missed by many relatives and friends. She was a devoted member of Divine Mercy Parish.
She is survived by two brothers, William J. Mullen Jr., Old Forge; and Joseph Mullen, Scranton; daughter, Tina Kizer; grandson, Dylan Kizer, both of Olyphant; and many friends. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and sister.
A blessing service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Cathedral Cemetery Chapel, Scranton, by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli. Entombment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margaret's name to Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., Scranton, 18505.
