Margaret P. "Peggy" McAndrew, 76, formerly of Scranton and Olyphant, died Thursday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Hogan McAndrew, she was a member of St. Patrick's Church, West Scranton. She was educated in Scranton public schools and before retirement, she was employed by the Scranton Lace Co. for 25 years.
Everyone referred to Margaret as "Peggy" and her grandchildren called her G-Peg. She was an avid bingo player and a terrific cook who loved animals and the New York Yankees. She had no enemies and she was loved by all.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Weston and all the staff and caregivers at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility and Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving care. And a special thank you to Peggy's roommate Betsy for her wonderful care and being such a good friend.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Badyrka and husband, Stephen, Throop; Margaret Benjamin and husband, Bryant, Dickson City; and Mary Marcinko and husband, David, Dickson City; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Stephen Badyrka, Kyle Benjamin, and Deanna and Arielle Marcinko; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, infant Mary McAndrew, Catherine Tarnowski and Helen Adamitis; and five brothers, Thomas, William, Joseph, Carl and Gerard.
The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass at 9:30 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Oram Street, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
