Marie A. Gray

Marie A. Gray, 88, formerly of Mayfield and Phoenixville, died Feb. 9 at St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home, Elmhurst.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Datto Gray, she was a former member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, Jermyn. A graduate of Mayfield High School, she moved from Mayfield to Philadelphia at the age of 30. While working as a secretary at Temple University, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Temple in 1966. She acquired a Master's Degree in business education from Temple in 1969. Before her retirement in 1987, she taught at Northern Chester County Technical School in Phoenixville. She was active in the Community Theater of Chester County and a member of the Stagecrafters Theater.
Surviving are a niece, Sharon White, Georgia; a nephew, Robert Gray, Georgia; several cousins, including her guardian, Joan Marie Cerra Hild, Pocono Pines.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Gray; a niece, Phyllis Cox; and a cousin, Monsignor Philip Gray.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, 624 Madison Ave., Jermyn. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
The family will receive friends from 11 until Mass time at the Church. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
