Marilyn C. Hoban McElroy, 77, died Thursday at her home in Woodbridge, N.J. Mrs. McElroy was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Gerald J. McElroy, in 2004.
Born in Scranton, she attended Marywood Seminary and has resided in Woodbridge since 1955. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Woodbridge.
Surviving are four daughters, Eileen Popovich of Woodbridge, N.J.; Susan Sherman of East Northport, N.Y.; Erin Surowitch of South Amboy, N.J.; and Rosemary Gatto of New Egypt, N.J.; a son, Gerard McElroy of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Joan Byrne of Scranton; and Karen Healy of Cooper City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge.
