Mark Joseph Popish

Mark Joseph Popish, 45, of Charlottesville, Va., died April 4 at home.

Born July 27, 1968, in Scranton, son of Joseph and Geraldine O'Brien Popish of Sturges, Mark was a graduate of Bishop Hannan High School. A proud Army veteran of 20 years, he honorably served as an 82nd Airborne Division medic. He defended our country with dignity during Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A loving father and son who adored his dog, Rio, he will forever be missed by those who loved him.

He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Alora Mae Popish, and her mother, Lisa Popish, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; his sister, Christine Popish and partner, Sera Downing, Palmyra, Va.; aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Mark's funeral and committal were privately conducted at the Cathedral Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
