Marlene C. Davis, R.N., Scranton, died Thursday evening in the Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband of 46 years is William C. Davis.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Walter Jr. and Mary Alice Barber Dagger. She was a 1962 graduate of West Scranton High School and also a 1965 graduate of the Community Medical Center School of Nursing. She was raised in the First Welsh Baptist Church of Scranton. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Community Medical Center, Mercy Hospital and for 25 years at Moses Taylor Hospital of Scranton before retiring in 2003.
Marlene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a humble and giving person. She took great pride in her nursing career, providing comfort to those in need and touching many lives. She loved vacationing with her husband in Florida. Marlene was proud of her Welsh heritage and having been able to travel to Wales.
Also surviving are daughters, Robyn Kathryn O'Brien and her husband, James, of Nicholson; and Heidi Lynn Klapatch and her husband, Bruce, of S. Abington Twp.; a son, Christopher William Davis and his partner, Camilo Aguirre, of Scranton; a sister, Kathy Nalevanko and her husband, John, of Moscow; a brother, Richard Dagger and his wife, Cynthia, of Scranton; six grandchildren, Jimmy, Matthew, Holly and Billy O'Brien; Samantha and Nicholas Klapatch; several nieces and nephews; a grandniece and two grandnephews; an aunt, Mary Grace Barber of Scranton; and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Peter Fox of the Steamtown Church.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10 until time of service. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Dunmore.
