Martha B. "Marty" Jones

Martha B."Marty" Jones, 61, of Dickson City, Pa., died early Sunday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger/CMC in Scranton following a sudden illness, comforted by a loving group of family and friends.

Born in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harold W. "Sam" Jones and Ethel Rae (Mitchinson) Jones, who died September 8, 2013. Martha was a 1970 graduate of Scranton Central High School, and a graduate of Bloomsburg University. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by HarperCollins Publishers for over 30 years.

Martha was a woman of strong faith who kept Jesus in her heart. She attended Blakely Primitive Methodist Church. She was a loyal New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. Martha cherished the times shared with family and friends, and was a loving caregiver to her mother. Marty was very creative and talented with a wonderful sense of humor. She had a heart of gold, and a very generous and caring spirit.

She was willing to do anything for others while asking nothing in return. She will be greatly missed, but our memories will always last. She was the best daughter any parents could ask for, the best friend and sister a brother could have, and the best companion any dog could have.

Surviving are her brothers, David R. Jones of Dickson City, Pa.; and William Jones of Virginia; many cousins and good friends; and her greyhound, Brittany.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, Pa., with Rev. Scott McGrady as officiating clergy. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore, Pa.

Friends may call Tuesday, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., Clarks Summit, PA 18411; or the Blakely Primitive Methodist Church, 313 First Street, Blakely, PA 18447.
