Martha Kutch, 88, of Simpson, died Thursday at home. She was the widow of John P. Kutch Sr., who died in 1998.
Born in Simpson on Dec. 25, 1924, daughter of the late John and Antonette Lash Novobilski, she was a 1943 graduate of Fell High School, Simpson. Martha was employed by Gentex Corp., Simpson, where she met and later married her husband. After marrying John on Oct. 6, 1951, she left employment at Gentex to raise a family.
She was in the strongest sense a stay-at-home-mom who lovingly raised four children. Martha was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Rose Parish, St. Michael's Church and the former Holy Trinity Church, Simpson. She enjoyed spending time with her family and liked to listen to polkas and songs by Daniel O'Donnell.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Home Health Care Professionals & Hospice for their kindness and support throughout the many months while Martha was in their care.
Surviving are two daughters, Sister Anne Kutch, O.S.F., Bethlehem; and Mary Kutch Prati and husband, Louis Prati, Northampton; two sons, John Paul Kutch, Simpson; and the Rev. Joseph Peter Kutch, East Stroudsburg; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Novobilski Jr.; and a sister, Louise Novobilski Caravella.
The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson, to be celebrated by her son, the Rev. Joseph P. Kutch. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, Simpson.
