Mary Agnes Ptaszynski, 87, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Wednesday at Mountain View Care Center. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Ptaszynski. Wed on July 3, 1952, the couple was married for 60 years.
Born April 19, 1925, daughter of the late John and Mary Ruddy McHale, Mary retired after working for both the Parodi Cigar and Scranton Lace companies. She was an active member of the Keyser Valley Senior Citizens. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in West Scranton.
She enjoyed taking trips to New York and Atlantic City, and one of her favorite pastimes was hosting family picnics in her backyard. A loving wife and mother who adored her family and pets, she will be dearly missed.
Her family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the second- and third-floor staffs of Moses Taylor Hospital and to the Alcore unit of Mountain View Care Center for their exceptional care.
Also surviving are her daughter and caregiver, Mary Margaret Ptaszynski, at home; nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were an infant son, Joseph; a brother, John McHale; and sisters, Ann Gavin and Margaret McHale.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton. Interment, Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Parish Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
