Mary Bernavage, 95, of Gouldsboro and formerly of Old Forge, died Tuesday morning under the care of Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Bernavage, in 1990.
Born in Old Forge on Nov. 21, 1917, daughter of the late Michael and Agnes Kalson, she was employed as a top stitcher for more than 30 years before retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in West Scranton.
She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Marlene D'Ambrosio and husband, Michael, with whom she resided; and many grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by sons, Maynard, Michael and Martin Bernavage; a stepson, James Bernavage; a daughter, Dolores Ottone; brothers, Michael, Peter and Charlie Kalson; and sisters, Sarah Grobosky and Della Malesky.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Martin Boylan, pastor. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
