Mary Ellen Louryk of Gaithersburg, Md., died at her home on June 28 after an illness. Her husband of 37 years is Bruce Louryk.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late David and Ruth Keegan Boston, she was a graduate of Technical High School and was a member of the Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, Dickson City. She was employed by International Correspondence Schools and Haddon Craftsmen, Scranton, before moving to Maryland, where she became an employee of the U.S. Department of Energy, and then a homemaker who did bookkeeping from home. Mary Ellen served as a longtime classroom volunteer and PTA officer at her neighborhood Gaithersburg elementary school, and was the team Mom for the Gaithersburg High School Trojans boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams. She also served as the children's choir director at Epworth United Methodist Church, Gaithersburg. Before her illness, Mary Ellen worked in the accounting department at Albert Uster Inc., Gaithersburg.
Survivors include a son, Bruce; a daughter, Kegan and son-in-law, Richard Kim, of Gaithersburg; aunts, Elva Foy, Mildred Keegan and Beverly Keegan; uncles, Robert Keegan and Ernest Manning; cousins, nephews and many close friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 6, at the Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 Lincoln Street, Dickson City, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Service will be at noon by Reverend Arthur Davis. Interment will immediately follow at the Dickson City Primitive Methodist Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, Peckville.
