Mary Fuess, 95, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Saturday afternoon at Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of Howard F. Fuess, who died July 4, 2004.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Anna Allen Engel, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church and the Women of Hickory.
She enjoyed gardening and summers at Cadjaw Pond in Honesdale. She looked forward to her family, especially her cousins, visiting on Sundays and to the family reunions she and her husband would host at Cadjaw Pond.
The family would like to thank the staff in Camelot at Mountain View Care Center for all the wonderful care and kindness they gave to Mary.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Cianfichi and husband, Richard, Scranton; a son, Richard H. Fuess and wife, Jean, Red Lion; five grandchildren, Kim Joyce and husband, John, Scranton; Richard Fuess and wife, Linda, Phoenix; Amy Lynn Williams and husband, Bill; and Robert and Ryan Fuess, all of York; 10 grandchildren, Mary and Jack Joyce, Ricky, Nicole, Rogan, Colin and Olivia Fuess and Aaron, Joel and Charis Williams; cousin, Alberta Massenkeil, Clarks Summit; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Carla E. Cianfichi.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Harrison Putnam, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ. Friends may call Wednesday, 4 until service.
