Mary L. Esgro

Mary L. Esgro, 74, of Greenfield Twp., died Saturday at the hospice unit of Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her loving husband of 56 years is Dominick Esgro Jr.

Born Nov. 26, 1937, in Scranton, daughter of the late George and Florence Royce Fox, Mary was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witnesses, Greenfield Twp. Before retirement, she was employed in the area garment industry in Jermyn and Mayfield. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend throughout her 74 years. She loved to cook, and always be called upon for a great recipe. Those who entered her home would be surrounded by the wonderful aromas coming from her kitchen and would never leave hungry. As a young woman Mary loved square dancing, rollerskating and riding horses. Mary's home, as well as her heart, were always open to eveyone. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, but especially her great-grandchildren, who would always put a smile on her face during any difficult time.

Mary passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones after battling an illness for the past several years. Her husband Dominick remained by her side every loving moment. Their devoted, unconditional love could be felt by anyone, as they were the love of each other's life.

Mary's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kenneth H. Rudolph, Dr. John E. Prior, Dr. Jeremiah Eagen, Dr. Roger Getts, the staff at DaVita Scranton Dialysis, and the Lackawanna Ambulance EMT staff for the exceptional care they game to her. The family would also like to thank the hospice unit staff at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Also surviving are two sons, Frank Esgro, Jermyn; and Joseph Esgro, Greenfield Twp.; a daughter, Debra Esgro, Carbondale; 10 grandchildren, Danielle Denny, Amanda Esgro, Dominick Esgro IV, Desiree Esgro, Vanessa Reeves, Rachael Esgro, Shayla Esgro, Frank Esgro Jr., Joseph Esgro Jr., Brittany Esgro; six great-grandchildren, Karissa Caffrey, Mckenzie and Michael Hudson, Leila and Aurora Esgro, and Brayden Reeves; four siblings, Richard Fox, Anne Ace, Alma Herne and Florence Fox; several nieces and nephews.
