Mary T. Costello

Mary T. Costello, 78, Newton Twp., died Tuesday morning at Abington Manor after an illness. She was the widow of the late Jerome J. Costello Sr., who died in 2001.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Benedict and Anna Yadouga Lawrynas, she attended Scranton Central High School. She was employed in the garment industry, working for 33 years at Manhattan Shirt Co., and retired from Elena J Corp. A devout catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, and formerly attended St. Joseph's Lithuanian Church in Scranton, where she was a member of its Knights of Lithuania and sang in its choir for many years.

She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting and drawing. Mary was an avid reader, and loved cooking and baking for her family. She was a member of several bowling leagues, and liked spending time in her garden. She considered herself a second grandmother to her great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she adored. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are a son, Jerome Costello Jr., Newton Twp., with whom she resided; a sister, Leona Bozenko, Clarks Summit; a brother, Lawrence Lawrynas and his wife, Karen, Fell Twp.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Church of St. Benedict, Newton Ransom Boulevard, Clarks Summit. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Throop.

Friends may call Monday, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
