Mary V. Starbuck

Mary V. Starbuck, 93, of South Canaan, died Friday at the home of her daughter. She was married for 37 years to Francis H. Starbuck, who died in 1983.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late David and Maybell Avery Elias, she had resided in Waymart and South Canaan since 1946.

She liked working in the garden and enjoyed growing flowers and houseplants. Mary especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of the former Waymart chapter of Daughters of America.

She is survived by a son, William, Waymart; a daughter, Susan Starbuck and fiancé, George Weaver, South Canaan; four grandchildren, Ann and Dale Starbuck and Austin and Dakota Weaver; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale J. Starbuck; and three brothers, Charles, Albert and David Elias.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart, conducted by Pastor Joshua Yorks of the Waymart Calvary United Methodist Church. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday, 5 to 8 p.m.
