Maurene Charmaine Burke Timms

Maurene Charmaine Burke Timms of West Scranton died Friday at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her husband of 40 years, William P. Timms Sr., died March 14, 1998.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Willard and Irene Dolan Burke, she was a graduate of St. Patrick's grade school and high school, and was also a graduate of Lackawanna County Vocational Technical School, where she received her state certification as a nursing assistant. Before her retirement, she was a private duty nurse employed by Lee Nurses Registry of Scranton. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, West Scranton.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She passed away surrounded by her loving family. Her unselfish love of her family is an inspiration that will stay with her family forever. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, William, New York City; and Christopher, Baltimore; three daughters, Judy Howells and husband, Richard, Scranton; Terry Kline and husband, Bob, Scranton; and Maurene Schultheis and husband, Mark, Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren, Richard, Jordan, Cassie and Justin Howells, Hillary and Valarie Timms, Kaylee Rose Kline, Sarafina, Miles and Vincent Schultheis; a sister, Rosalene Pellegrino and husband, Christopher, Scranton; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalene A. Timms; and a brother, Gerard Burke.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, West Scranton. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Monday, 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , Scranton-Pocono Highway, Scranton, PA 18505; or Food Pantry of St. Patrick's Church, 1400 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504.
