Michael Chomko, 68, of Elmhurst, Pa., died peacefully on Saturday.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Michael Sr. and Anna Hrycyna Chomko. A graduate of John Marshall High School, Cleveland, Ohio, he also attended the University of Scranton. He was a member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Scranton, and attended St. Mark's Church, Thornhurst. Michael was an Army
veteran, having served during the Vietnam War
in Germany as a SP/5, with the 7th Army, 4th Battery of the 41st Artillery, and retired as a supervisor for Bell Atlantic, Scranton, after 30 years of dedicated service.
Michael was known to feed all the wild critters that came onto his property and throughout the neighborhood, and was a true loyal friend to many.
He is survived by two sisters, Donna Morgan, Ohio; and Helyne Chomko, New Jersey; a nephew, Navy Capt. James Lee Morgan, Washington, D.C.; and cousins.

His funeral will be Monday, Nov. 12, from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton, with a funeral Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 430 N. Seventh Ave., Scranton, PA 18503. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. Parastas services at 6 p.m.
