Michael Hawley, 85, of Mount Pleasant Mills, died Friday at the Manor at Penn Village in Selinsgrove. He married his wife, Phyllis Holland, April 2, 1987.
Born Oct. 3, 1928, in Wilkes Barre, son of the late Fannie (Orel) and John Hawley, Michael graduated in 1946 from Caughlin High School. After high school, he served in the Army
during World War II
. After he returned home from the service, he moved to Delaware County to work for Scott Paper Co. in Chester where he retired in 1990 after 43 years of service.
Michael loved to sit on his deck watching the countryside. He loved his trains and traveled the East Coast several times looking at numerous lighthouses. He enjoyed the outdoors and working outside before getting sick.
He is also survived by a sister, Franie; his daughter, Doris Minshall; his grandson, Timmy Minshall; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was also preceded in death by his brothers, Metro, Nick, John and Pete; and his sisters, Anna and Sophie.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove. Burial with military honors will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilkes Barre.
