Montgomery Doud

Montgomery M. Doud, 92, of Carbondale, died Monday at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife of 63 years is the former Joan Schuster.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Arthur and Marion Mills Doud, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale. He was a 1939 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and attended Keystone College, La Plume. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater. Before retirement, he was employed as a guard at Farview State Hospital, Waymart. He was also a coach for Little League baseball and he enjoyed fishing.

Also surviving are two sons, David and wife, Gwendolyn, Carbondale; and Bruce and wife, Mary, Walnutport; a daughter, Barbara Benkovic and husband, Mark, Harrisburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Fred Doud.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with services by Pastor Wayne Wolf. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
