Nancy M. Modzelewski of Scranton died Monday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She and her husband, Edwin J. Modzelewski, celebrated 47 years of marriage on June 26.
Born in Chinchilla, daughter of the late Herman and Beatrice Woodyatt Ross, she was a member of St. Ann's Basilica and a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was employed at Manhattan Shirt, Joess Blouse, J&A Manufacturing, and before retirement, Sarno & Sons. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader. She was a loving wife, mother and sister, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christine Chichura, Taylor; and Danielle DeLucy and husband, Alan, Covington Twp.; four grandchildren, Kylie Chichura, Aidan, Soyer and Ashtynne DeLucy; two sisters, Loretta Gower, Scranton; and Shirley Winters, Old Forge; a stepsister, Romaine Fritch, Mill City; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Malloy and Eleanor Burlingame; and two brothers, Herman Ross Jr. and Thomas McLane Sr.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Taylor.
