Nancy McAllister

Nancy McAllister, of Dunmore, died Thursday morning at home. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. McAllister, who died in 2012 and to whom she was married for 51 years.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Terenty and Mary Smereka Ezersky, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. She graduated from both Marymount Manhattan College and Adelphi University in New York, receiving degrees in the fields of Nursing and Psychology. Upon retirement from her position as a director of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, she returned to her home town, where she was active in numerous clubs and organizations. She was an associate of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) and was known for her fellowship, support, strength and unconditional love for others.

Surviving local family members include nieces, Kathleen O'Boyle-Lantry and husband, Dennis, of Dunmore; Sharon Egan of Olyphant; Nancy Snyder and husband, Charles, of Pennsdale, Pa.; grandnephew, Sean Egan and wife, Jennifer, of Taylor; and great-grandniece, Elizabeth Egan. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends, all of whom loved her dearly.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mildred O'Boyle; and brother, John Ezersky.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
