Norman E. Oakley

Norman E. Oakley, 95, of Nicholson, died Saturday at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. He and his wife, the former Eleanor Cairns, celebrated their 73th wedding anniversary on Aug. 16.

Born in Nicholson, son of the late Elwood and Myrtle Button Oakley, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nicholson for more than 70 years and served as an elder, trustee and head usher. He attended Nicholson and Lathrop Twp. schools. Norman was employed at the W.S. Crock Mill in Nicholson for 32 years before retiring. He was hard-working, friendly and liked by everyone.

He is survived by a half-sister, Louise Williams; and three half-brothers, Niles, Ralph and Evan.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family by Pastor Margaret Hartmann of the First Presbyterian Church of Nicholson. Interment will take place in Nicholson Cemetery.
