Olga Hudak, a lifelong resident of Dunmore, died Wednesday at the VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on June 4, 1989.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Topolanchik Sansky, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and worked in the garment industry for many years. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunmore. She was a member of the choir for many years, its Altar and Rosary Society and custodian of the church until a few years ago.
She was devoted to her church and family, especially her grandsons and great-grandsons. She never missed any of their baseball games as they were growing up.
She loved her holiday baking and holiday dinners. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed for her kindness and generosity.
The family would like to thank the ICU and VNA Hospice staff of the Geisinger Community Medical Center for the special compassionate and loving care they gave to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Menichetti and companion, Larry Ferrone, Peckville; three grandsons, Maurice Menichetti III, Throop; Christopher Menichetti and wife, Connie, Clarks Summit; and Sandy Menichetti, Throop; two great-grandsons, Reese and Zachary, all of them the love of her life; a brother, John Sansky and wife, Simone, Dunmore; a sister, Margaret Rogan and husband, Joseph; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Daryl and Maury Menichetti.
She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Helen, Mary, Susan, Ann, Julia and Elizabeth; and two brothers, George and Michael Sansky.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Chipak Funeral Home, 623 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Office of Christian Burial service at 10:30 in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 511 E. Drinker St., to be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Lozinski, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. with parastas at 7:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church.
