Olive McConnell

Olive McConnell of Scranton died Sunday at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born in Sterling Twp., daughter of the late Raymond and Alice Davies Gilpin, she was educated in Sterling schools. Before her retirement, she was employed by the First Federal Savings & Loan Bank as a cleaning woman.

Olive's favorite pastimes were going to the Glider Diner, attending country fairs and church picnics and visiting with relatives.

Surviving are a son, Michael McConnell, LaPlume; and grandson, Robert Hartman Jr., Scranton.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Ann Hartman; son, Thomas J. McConnell Jr.; and brothers, Raymond, Harry, Marvin and Jack.

The funeral will be conducted on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Arthur Davis, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
