Patricia M. Gillespie, 61, of North Scranton, died Saturday, after being stricken ill at home. Her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, John "Jack" Gillespie, died March 21.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Petkunas McCarthy, Patty was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and was a certified paralegal, having worked for the law firm of Murphy, Piazza and Genello.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph McCarthy, Hawaii; an uncle, Edmund Goodfield, Scranton; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Gillespie, Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark McCarthy; a brother-in-law, James Gillespie III; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Gillespie.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m., with services at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Arthur Davis. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum, Scranton.
A viewing for family and friends will be on Friday from 8:30 until time of services.
