Paul Moffitt of Carbondale died Sunday at VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Thomas Moffitt. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and a graduate of St. Rose High School and the University of Scranton. He furthered his education in the Passionate Monastery in Long Island. Before his retirement, he was a teacher for Piscataway High School in New Jersey and was named teacher of the year for the state of New Jersey.
Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Catherine Moffitt, Jermyn; Jane Moffitt, Mayfield; and Grace Moffitt, Carbondale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Roland, Thomas, Charles and Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Sept. 14, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
