Peter Zarnosky

Peter Zarnosky, 82, of Dunmore, died Tuesday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton shortly after arrival. He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa M. Brogenski. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage on Sunday.

Born in Blakely, son of the late Martin and Antoinette Kuchwara Zarnosky, he was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. He was a graduate of Blakely High School class of 1950 and a cum laude graduate of the University of Scranton in 1954. He played football at both schools.

He was commissioned in the Navy in 1955 and served as an administrative officer at Saipan Marianas Island and as an officer of the deck underway aboard the USS Intrepid, CVS-11.

After military service he worked in computer services for the federal government in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Heidelberg, Germany, and ended his career at the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a member of American Legion Raymond Henry Post 327, Olyphant.

Also surviving are a brother, Robert Zarnosky, Blakely; an aunt, Irene Occhipinti, Dunmore; and several cousins.

The funeral with military honors will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Dickson City.
