Philip Robert Jacobson, 76, Emmaus, died Saturday in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. He and his wife, Avigail Bleiman Jacobson, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in March.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Henry and Ida Levy Jacobson. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the University of Scranton. He served in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War
. Before retirement, he was the owner of Equipment Specialist Co., Allentown. He was a former member of Keneseth Israel Congregation, Allentown, and Temple Israel, Scranton. He was a member of B'nai B'rith and numerous civic, religious and charitable organizations.
Also surviving are a son, Kirk Alan Jacobson and companion, Beverly Dailey, Breinigsville; a daughter, Susan Jacobson Kempner and husband, Lawrence, Maple Glen; two grandchildren, Danielle and Ryan Kempner; a brother, Murray Jacobson and wife, Barbara, Moosic; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Rabbi Bernard Cohen, Los Angeles; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with his brother-in-law, Rabbi Bernard Cohen, officiating. Interment to follow in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery, Dalton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 until the time of service.
Shiva will be observed at the residence of his brother, Murray Jacobson, 704 O'Henry Close, Glenmaura Commons, Moosic, on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.
