Rachel W. Ruschak

Rachel W. Ruschak, Taylor, died Monday at VNA Hospice, Scranton. Her husband is Elias "Doug" Ruschak. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in March.

Born in Taylor, daughter of the late James and Deborah Reese Winters, she was a graduate of Taylor High School, class of 1952. Rachel had worked at Aldino's Restaurant in Taylor and also as a library clerk for the Taylor Public Library. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, Taylor.

Rachel enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, trips to the casino and spending time with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and had a smile for everyone.

Also surviving are two daughters, Diane Kowalcik and partner, Pam DenHartog, Olathe, Kan.; and Bonnie and partner, Amy Griffith, Ashley; a son, Douglas, Ormond Beach, Fla.; a friend, Barbara Shane, Taylor; four grandchildren, James, Taylor; Carrie, Scranton; Erica, Myrtle Beach; and Thomas, Jessup; two great-grandchildren, Ryun Valenta, Scranton; and Khalan Ruschak, Myrtle Beach; a sister, Hannah Price, Taylor; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara; four sisters, Gretchen Collins, Doris Griffiths, Edith Strein and Marion Burke; and four brothers, Richard, Carl, James and Louis Winters.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor, with services by the Rev. David Erickson, pastor of the United Baptist Church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Baptist Church, Church and Pond streets, Taylor, PA 18517; or the Henry Cancer Center, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
