Raymond Lavelle, Scranton, died Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Patrick and Mary Flynn Lavelle, he was a member of St. Patrick's Church, educated in Scranton public schools and a graduate of West Scranton High School and Johnson School of Technology. An Army
veteran, he received the Marksman Rifle "M-1" expert "carbine." Before retirement Raymond was employed for 25 years at Procter and Gamble.
Raymond was a fanatic with physical training and competed at weight lifting competitions. He was a member at several health clubs including the Downtown Athletic Club and Uno Fitness. Ray would be seen accompanied by his German shepard, Moe.
Surviving are one son, Raymond Patrick Lavelle, Williamsport; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald F. Lavelle, Robert Lavelle and Paul Arthur Lavelle.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
