Raymonda V. Duhinio

Raymonda V. Duhinio, a resident at Scranton Manor for the last several years, died Friday at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred C. Duhinio, who died in Hawaii in 1975.

"Rae" to her friends was born on Feb. 8, 1925, in Onomea, Hawaii. She was the daughter of the late Juan and Juana Cayampat Villaverde. Rae graduated from Hilo High School before working as a librarian for many years at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu until her retirement.

The heart and anchor of her family, Rae will always be remembered for her independent, joyful spirit and her love for singing. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are two daughters, Audrey Kim, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Renee Quinn, Scranton; grandchildren, Tia Carrere, Los Angeles, Calif.; Audra Ryan, Honolulu, Hawaii; Alesaundra Janairo, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and attorney Matthew Quinn, Baltimore, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Spencer Butterfield, Las Vegas, Nev.; Kennedy Ryan, Honolulu, Hawaii; and Bianca Wakelin, Los Angeles, Calif. Rae is also survived by two brothers, Vince Villaverde, Riverside, Calif.; and Juan Villaverde Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.; and three sisters; Dolores Hayes, Texarkana, Texas; Lourdes Allenegui, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and Paula Todd, Hilo, Hawaii.

Rae was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Benny and Mac Villaverde; and a sister, Esther Nagrone.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at Valley of the Temples chapel in Kaneohe, Hawaii, and she will be laid to rest at the base of the magnificent Ko'olau mountains in Hawaii.
