Richard B. Drake

Richard B. Drake of Scranton died Friday at Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre. He was the widower of Evelyn Stadinski Drake, who died Oct. 24, 2002.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Edgar Drake and Mildred Ross Drake, he was a member of Embury United Methodist Church. He was educated in Scranton public schools and attended West Scranton High School. Richard was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and enjoyed car shows, and his greatest joy was spending time with family.

Surviving are three sons, Richard B. Drake Jr.; Michael Swingle Sr. and wife, Michaelle; and Shawn Swingle and wife, Maura, all of Scranton; three daughters, Sandra Pettinato and husband, George, Taylor; Lori Syrylo and husband, Matt, Scranton; and Kris Swingle, Williamsport; a brother, Butch Drake, Clarks Summit; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Alton Swingle; and a granddaughter, Sara Syrylo.

Funeral services will be Monday at 7 p.m. in the Davies & Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Ave., by Pastor Linda Eckersley of Embury United Methodist Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Monday, 3 to 7 p.m.
