Richard Conrad Long, Berlin, Conn., formerly of Scranton, died Thursday at home.
Born in Scranton, son of the late James and Lillian Gill Long, he was a member of St. Paul's Church, educated in Scranton public schools and a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Richard was employed as an iron worker and a member of Local 601. He was a skilled carpenter, electrician and a tree trimmer. He built his own home from the ground up, and was often see doing car repairs.
He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are three sons, Keith Long, Jeffrey Long and Michael Long; grandchildren; two sisters, Diane M. Gael, Scranton; and Lillian Long, Moscow; two brothers, James Long, Scranton; and Joseph Long, Duryea; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Long.
The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
