Rita Langan, LPN, of Carbondale, died Sunday at the Carbondale Nursing Center. She was the widow of Aloysius Langan, who died in 1986.
Born in Archbald, daughter of the late John and Laura Siddons McNulty, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of St. Thomas High School, Archbald, and the Lackawanna County Vocational Technical School for Nursing. Before her retirement, she was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Carbondale Nursing Home. She was a member of the Ladies' Ancient Order of Hibernians, Carbondale, a former member of the St. Rose Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the former Marian Community Hospital Auxiliary. She attended the Carbondale YMCA for more than 30 years and received a gold medal in their Senior Olympics.
Surviving are a son, Al Langan and wife, Carol, Daytona Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Maureen Langan, Palm City, Fla.; Patricia Langan, Scranton; and Tami Zazzera and husband, Dominic, Carbondale; three grandchildren, Laura, Kristen and Nicholas; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, John and Isabella; a brother, Gerard McNulty, Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews, and two extended family members, Wilmer "Skip" Morgan and Noel Adcroft.
She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Grace, Alice, Catherine, Jean and Helen; and nine brothers, Joseph, Patrick, Leonard, James, Robert, Walter, Thomas, Donald and William.
The funeral will be Monday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
