Rita T. Frekey

Rita T. Frekey, 88, of Dickson City, died Thursday at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Frekey.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathryn Homits Falong, and was a former member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Dickson City. She was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. She was a graduate of Fell High School and before retirement was employed in the hospitality industry in the Catskill Mountains.

She was an avid golfer and a member of Elkview Country Club for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who was a wonderful homemaker. She loved the holiday seasons especially Christmas and she enjoyed decorating her home and spending this time with her family. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Rita's family would like to thank Doctors Kurt Moran and Nicholas Dodge; the nurses at VNA Hospice; and the staff of the Dunmore Health Care Center, for their kind and considerate care.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Frekey and wife, Linda, Dickson City; a daughter, Cheryl Farinelli and husband, Victor, Sicklerville, N.J.; grandchildren, Alex Frekey, Dickson City; Corinne Mina and husband, Jason, Throop; Victor Farinelli Jr. and Candace Farinelli both of Sicklerville, N.J.; a great-granddaughter, Addisyn Mina; a sister, Mary Zavacky and husband, Joseph, Simpson; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Goodman and Ann Casella; and a brother, Thadeus Falong.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass at 10:30 in St. Mary's Visitation Church. Cremation will take place at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald.

Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County.
