Robert Beck

Robert "Bob" Beck, 63, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Wednesday afternoon at Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Taylor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tricia Roche Beck. The couple was married for 29 years.

Born on Oct. 2, 1950, son of the late George and Loretta Burke Beck, Bob graduated from St. Patrick's High School before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton. For 32 years, before his retirement, Bob worked for General Dynamics, both as a machinist and in the Employee Assistance Program, where he served as a drug and alcohol counselor, helping to mentor countless people throughout the years. A proud member of the Friends of Bill W. for 26 years, he also served as a substance abuse counselor under Judge Michael J. Barrasse. He was a veteran, who was honorably discharged from the Air Force.

Bob was an avid fisherman, who also enjoyed photography. He was a kind, loving man with an amazing gift of making everyone he came in contact with feel like family. He will be extremely missed.

He is also survived by his daughter, Londyn; his brothers, George Beck and wife, Yvonne, Aquia Harbour, Va.; and Gerald Beck and wife, Arlene, Lake Ariel; his sister, Marsha Beck, Scranton; his adored granddaughter, Dovi; his goddaughters, Lisa Jones and Sydney Frazier; a godson, Alan Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to express its appreciation to all of the family, friends and Riverside staff, who showed immense love and tremendous support throughout Bob's illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Stephen Krawontka, associate pastor. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Sunday, 6 to 9 p.m., at the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
