Robert J. "Fuzz" Mayer, 76, a resident of Scranton, died Wednesday afternoon in the Regional Hospital of Scranton Inpatient Hospice Unit after a brief illness.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Joseph and Helen Lutz Mayer. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and attended St. Rocco's Church, Dunmore. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police E.B. Jermyn Lodge 2 and a retired member of the Scranton Police Department.
Although Bob had no immediate family, he was kind, giving and close to his extended family, neighbors and friends.
Surviving are two cousins, George Lutz, Scranton; and Mary Alice Noon, Langhorne; his extended family, the Fox, Portanova and Demola families, Antoinette Fox, Brian and Jeannette Alunni and their children, Rachel, Daniela, Paris and Katie, Linda and Tom Wishard and Linda's children, Jared, Cameron, Josh and Julia, all of Dunmore; Tracey, D.J., Stephanie, Lisa, Christina, Jon, Kim, Tony, Jim, Pagie, Hailey and Devan; and many friends.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 11 in St. Rocco's Church, Kurtz Street and Luke Avenue, Dunmore. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
