Rocco D. Grippo of McMurray, Pa., formerly of Scranton, died Thursday, March 27, in McMurray.
He was born in Dunmore, son of the late William and Minnie Savero Grippo. He was educated in Scranton schools and was a Veteran of the U.S Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and manager of Grippo's Body Shop of Scranton.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Through his years in the Navy, he developed a great love of oceans and lakes. These years of experiences resulted in his love of boating and water skiing, especially on Lake Wallenpaupack. He also enjoyed watching western movies, was a huge car enthusiast and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Surviving are three sons, William Grippo, McMurray, with whom he resided; Rocco Grippo, Topeka, Kan.; and Matthew Grippo, Scranton; two daughters, Amy Grippo, Dunmore; Lori McCarthy, Scranton; and grandchildren, Stacy DeRemer, Joey Kennedy, Todd Grippo, Amanda Grippo, Isabella Grippo, Shelby Prosner, Joshua Grippo, Christopher McCarthy, Justin McCarthy, Christina Grippo and Matthew Grippo; great-grandchildren, Emma Grippo, Evan McCarthy, Aidan McCarthy, Camden McCarthy, Cullen McCarthy, Brody McCarthy and Emma DeRemer; one sister, Florence Maglioli, Scranton; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mindy Kennedy; one brother, Frank Grippo; and one sister, Mary Serrian.
Friends and relatives may visit Rocco's family Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
