Rose M. Stochmal, 92, of West Pittston, died Friday. Her husband, Benjamin, died in 2010.
Born in Pittston, daughter of the late Victor and Philomena Serpe Pompino, Rose was a graduate of Pittston Twp. schools. She had worked in the garment industry and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was an accomplished cook and loved sharing her many dishes with family and friends. Rose passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are two daughters, Agnes Izolt and husband, James, Scranton; and Phyllis, at home, whom she lovingly has taken care of for more than 60 years; a brother Michael Pompino, West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mary Kozinski, Pittston; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Angelo "Bing" and Charles Pompino; and sisters, Carrie Borino and Grace Guiliano.
The family would like to send a special note of gratitude to Dr. Charles Manganiello and the staff of Pittston Dialysis for their care and support of Rose.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Barbara Parish in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 28 Memorial St., Exeter. The Rev. Michael Finn, pastor, will be celebrant. Interment will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.
