Rowenia V. Bennington Higgins, a resident of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, formerly of Scranton and Virginia, died Sunday at the center following an illness. She was the widow of Roy Clyde Higgins, who died in 1976.
Born in Rockbridge County, Va., daughter of the late Lake and Sissy Virginia Hossetter Bennington, she lived most of her life in Buchanan, Va., and moved to Scranton in 2005.
She was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved to watch the games with her grandson, Robbie. She enjoyed NASCAR and her favorite driver, Bobby Allison.
Surviving are her children, Willie Higgins, Old Forge; and James and Paul Higgins, both of Virginia; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley.
Funeral and interment will be held in Virginia. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc.
